Abstract
A signal processor for HDTV (high-definition television) receivers is presented. The HDTV receiver utilizing this signal processor can receive not only the HDTV broadcasting service but also the NTSC standard; at the same time, the picture quality for the NTSC signal is improved. This enhancement maintains the optimum viewing distance of the HDTV receiver within the same range for both systems.>
