Abstract

Since the oil crisis of the 1970's and recognition of the limitations of world oil resources, the technology of production of biofuel from Jatropha curcus Linn. has received special attention. The present paper deals with the extraction of oil of two species of Jatropha (Jatropha curcus Linn. and Jatropha gossypifolia Linn.) found in North eastern region of India. More oil content was found in Jatropha curcus Lin. as compared to Jatropha gossypifolia Lin. taking account of plant species 2 x conditions 2 (condition 1 = with seed coat; condition 2 = without seed coat).
