Infantile Spasms Associated with Hemihypsarrhythmia and Hemimegalencephaly

SUMMARY A case of unilateral megalencephaly in a four‐week‐old child with infantile spasms and hemihypsarrhythmia is presented. The histological and histometrical investigations showed signs of immaturity in the cortex of the megalencephalic hemisphere. RÉSUMÉ L'article rapporte le cas d'un enfant de quatre semaines avec mégalencéphalie unilatérale, spasms infantiles et hémihypsarrhythmie. Les investigations histologiques et histométriques ont révélé des signes d'immaturité dans le cortex de l'hémisphère mégalencéphalique. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Das histopathologische und histometrische Bild in einem Fall von Hemimegalencephalie bei einem 4 Wochem alten Kind mit infantilen Spasmen und unilateraler Hypsarrhythmie wurde dargestelt. Die Veränderungen in der “hypertrophischen” Grosshirnrinde wiesen auf Reifungsstörungen. RÉSUMÉN Un caso de megaloencefalia unilateral en un bebe de quatro semanas con espasmos infantiles y una ipsaritmia unilateral es presentado. En el hemisferio megaloencefalico hay signos de inmaduridad en cuanto al examen histologico y histometrico.
