Abstract
The application of quasielastic and inelastic neutron scattering to layered silicates is still in its infancy, however the ease of calculating the expected spectrum from a given dynamical model, the extreme sensitivity to hydrogen which can be simply altered by deuteration, and the wide energy and time range (0.2 µ eV - 400 meV, 10-8-10-14 s) over which measurements can be performed promise to provide new insights into the dynamics of these interesting materials.
