Abstract

In 1956-57 about two hundred specimens ofOxygaster gora (Hamilton), were examined and one of them was found to harbour three trematodes of the genusPycnadenaLinton, 1911. So far only two species have been described under this genus but none from India. The present communication deals with the description ofPycnadena komiyain. sp. forming the third species of the genus and first from India. This parasite is peculiar in parasitizing a freshwater host as the two previously known species are reported from marine fishes.
