Abstract

The aim of the article is to determine, by experiment on large-scale models, the probability of direct lightning strikes in overhead lines with protected wires for different model configurations. The experimental results have allowed to refute the hypothesis of the absence of direct impacts in protected wires of overhead lines. The studies conducted suggest that lightning defeat of overhead lines with protected wires is substantially lower than that traditional lines.
