Abstract
Hydrodynamics of 3-phase and 2-phase Classical and Inverse fluidized beds are studied. Inverse Fluidized bed with 45 cm static bed height with a particle size of 8 mm and density of 846 kg/m3.The Classical fluidized bed with 45 cm static bed height with a particle size of 3mm and density of 1800 kg/m3. Two methods are used to predict the bed height and minimum liquid fluidization velocity for IFB and CFB. The bed height was estimated successfully with conductivity method and verified using axial pressure drop method and visual method. The minimum liquid fluidization velocity is also identified using bed pressure drop and conductivity method for a given gas velocity. Both methods predicted the bed height and minimum liquid fluidization velocity exactly and compared with visual observations.
