Abstract
In order to manage water resource in long distance canal system in winter, the paper introduces the river ice, and the canal system just can adjust water flow to control ice condition. So the selection of operation method, mathematical model about the hydraulic response from free flow to ice cover flow, and the further research issues are discussed. This paper points the research process and further research direction.
