Abstract
This paper is concerned with "open kernel" geometric modelling systems for mixed-dimensional cellular objects. Concepts from topology, differential geometry and computer aided geometric design are used to improve the foundation of the recently described Djinn Application Programming Interface (API) to a geometric modelling kernel. The proposed alternatives are provided with formal definitions that are imperative for the construction of robust software and the integrity of data transfer. The concepts of this paper also should aid the development of alternative geometric modelling systems.
