Abstract
Stephos cryptospinosus sp. nov., a new species of calanoid copepod, is described from Western Mediterranean coastal waters. It differs from other species of the genus in the structure of the fifth legs in both sexes, and in having a small spinous process on the posterolateral margins of the last prosomite in both sexes.
