Abstract

Due to constant food crises, food safety has become a hot topic. With the safety of food now commonly recognized as credence attribute, consumers have to rely on the trust they have towards producers, retailers and regulators to ensure potential health impacts are minimized. The distortion of food safety information in the food supply chain is still the key point of the food risks control. By building up a food traceability system based on EAN.UCC, each section of supply chain can be supervised, from cultivation, production, packaging and retailing to consumption. Food safety traceability is considered to be the most important method for food safety control.
