Abstract
In its first year of operation ASDEX brought not only a lot of important physical results. Also a large and previously unknown stability, reproducibility and duration of the plasma discharges could be achieved, mainly by means of the special magnetic divertor field configuration and by the feedback-control. These questions of large interest in the field of fusion- and magnetic field technology are discussed in detail.
