Abstract

The author derives the shape of the distribution function for the products of a thermonuclear reaction (α particles) that is brought about through Coulomb scattering of α particles by plasma electrons and ions. It is assumed that the thermonuclear reaction is stationary and that the energy of the reaction products is transmitted to the plasma. Consideration of the problem is based on a kinetic equation for the α-particle distribution function, in which the Coulomb collisions are taken into account by means of the Landau collision term.
