Abstract
Abstract A combined system of potassium permanganate and mandelic acid was found to initiate vinyl polymerization, specifically acrylamide. A study of the reaction kinetics of this system showed that free radicals are formed. The energy of activation was found to be 3.54 kcal/° mol in the temperature range 27–40°C, in nitrogen atmosphere.
