Abstract
The planning of transmitter site and transmitter power require accurate determination of the radiowave propagation especially for mobile radio networks such as GSM, radio paging, digital audio broadcasting (DAB), etc., which will involve the uneven field strength reception in a moving vehicle. In urban areas, in particular, there are gaps in the coverage giving rise to insufficient or no reception at all due to the superposition of the many waves produced by diffraction, scattering, reflection, radio shadow and multipath reception. The paper deals with the use of EMI receivers as field strength meters for measurements of the field strength in a moving vehicle. To analyse the problem a simplified model of ground reflection is used.
