Role of invasions in formation of house mice population of Ishim and their taxonomic evaluation

An evaluation of phenotype features of house mice populations in the city of Ishim is carried out. In populations studied, the morphological features inherent to both Mus musculus and Mus domesticus are found. Reproduction parameters of different populations in laboratory breeding and results of laboratory crosses between different populations of M. musculus indicate the low reproductive success and fertility in males of the Ishim population. On the basis of the data obtained, the house mice populations in Ishim are assumed to arise by random invasions of the commensal taxa of the house mice M. musculus and M. domesticus with the help of humans.
