Abstract

I would like to thank my supervisor Dr. Wendell Horton who has been instrumental in this research work.I've learn't from him that there is never a moment when I should not be performing calculations on any piece of paper that might be handy, estimating flow velocities, balancing energies, evaluating currents, doing integrals and the like. He's got me going now and I can't stop.Dr. Gary Hallock has been supervisor, mentor, friend, extended family and much more throughout my graduate study. His gentle yet rigorous approach to all matters, be it about life or research, has instilled some measure of patience and quiet determination in my otherwise slightly more combustive character. It has been a privilege.I thank my wife Patricia for her love, encouragement, emotional support and plentiful patience.I could not have done this without
