Distribution and replication of object oriented data for FRIENDS

Abstract

By its nature, the power system exists in a distributed environment. Therefore the electric power information system has to provide sophisticated methodologies to fulfil the requirements for distribution and replication of data. In this paper we present our experience with the replicated and distributed database environment, particularly aiming at the needs of power a distribution system. In our research, Oracle database and Oracle Enterprise Manager were used. During this phase, we have focused our research on concepts and basis of distributed database system and replication of data. We created a test environment in which distribution and replication of simple data, GIS data and multimedia data is made.
