Abstract
This paper presents a new method for power network protection system simulation testing. With this method, secondary fault currents and voltages are synchronously injected into the inputs of protection relays at both ends of a transmission line and the integrative performance of the communication based protection system is tested. A satisfactory result in protection system commissioning testing is reported to prove that the method is both economical and practical for field test applications.
