Abstract

The frequency-dependent duration of strong earthquake ground motion, based on the mean-square integrals of motion, has been correlated with the reported Modified Mercalli Intensity at the recording site. Simple relations have been pre-sented which describe the overall trends of computed durations for different levels of Modified Mercalli Intensity and for three classes of site geology.
