IPM case studies: leafy salad crops.

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the aphid infestation of leafy salad crops (Asteraceae crops including many varieties of Lactuca sativa), and the various measures for controlling these pests, particularly by integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. The role of chemical control (insecticide use and insecticide resistance), biological control, resistance of host plants to aphids in IPM, is briefly discussed.
