A Sermon in Two Parts

These two sermons were not pre-planned to be part one and part two. The first sermon was preached as a part of a lectionary sermon series on the book of Ephesians. It deals with the misinterpretation and abuse of Scriptural texts, particularly around the issue of domestic violence. The second sermon was preached as an Easter Sunday sermon. These two sermons were linked for the purpose of this journal because the second sermon continued “Sherry's” story from the vantage point of the resurrection promise. Both sermons were preached to a traditional Presbyterian congregation in Irving, Texas, during regular Sunday worship.
