Abstract

Contents of polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) from twenty municipal sludge samples of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs)of the Jiangsu Province in China were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results show that 20 Sludge samples contain polybrominated diphenyl ethers and polybrominated biphenyls; Polybrominated diphenyl ethers range from 11.64 ng/g to 52.35ng/g, with an average content of 29.55ng/g, whose concentration are mostly 20~30ng/g; while PBBs range from 1.36~3.03 ng/g, which PBBs mostly concentrate from 1.5 to 2ng/g. Although the content of PBDES and PBBs were lower than the average level of foreign, more attention should be paid to them.
