Education and training for librarianship and information work: Annual Bibliography, 1989

For four years this bibliography has been compiled to help provide access to the literature on the education and training of information professionals. As in its earlier editions, the bibliography is international in scope and covers items published in the previous year. Subject access is provided by the contents list and classified arrangement and through a detailed subject index which includes entries for countries and regions. The name index includes authors and name subject entries for individuals and organizations. Hallmarks of the bibliography are the range of sources scanned and the high proportion of items included which have been examined by the compiler. This is possible because of the strength of the collections in the Information and Library Studies Library, UCW Aberystwyth (formerly CLW Library). Some attempt is made to include items from countries on which scant information is available and also items which would not be indexed in the major secondary services. I would welcome reactions from re<)-ders on characteristics of the bibliography which they found useful or otherwise, and suggestions on how future compilations could be enhanced.
