Abstract
In the future, most GSM operators will introduce GPRS (general packet radio services) which uses the same frequencies as GSM and hence will interfere. This paper studies the interference patterns created by GPRS and GSM traffic, given that GPRS traffic has a burstier profile than GSM. These interference patterns are measured from a network and a GSM call point of view, with the results showing that GPRS traffic can be treated and planned for the same as GSM traffic.
