Abstract

Today's proliferation of terminal types with their various features, speeds, line disciplines, and idiosyncrasies is harassing the computer system implementer who would like to serve a variety of terminals. In addition to the ability to interface to a particular terminal type, it is necessary to identify that terminal among those able to use the same hardware interface.
