Abstract
Malaria is a preventable, life-threatening disease spread by the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito. Anyone visiting an area where malaria is endemic can become infected regardless of age, sex or background. Therefore, it is essential that travellers are given advice on the prevention of malaria, including the importance of avoiding bites. This article provides an overview of malaria prophylaxis prescribing for nurses, including information on prescribing for patients with specific medical conditions.
