Abstract

Eastern bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinum (L.) Kuhn var. latiusculm (Desv.) Underw.) in lowbush blueberry (Vaccinium sp.) fields was effectively controlled by spray application of asulam (methyl sulfanilylcarbamate), a systemic herbicide. No detectable residue of asulam was found in fruit harvested from treated plots Spray applications were at 1.12 and 2.24 kg/ha. The higher rate was more thorough in reducing bracken frond numbers than the lower rate.
