Abstract
Priming has been contributed to significant improvement in seed germination and seedling growth in different crop species. Many of researchers reported that seed halopriming could improve germination, emergence and growth of wheat. This study was conducted to evaluation the effect of different halo-priming combinations on wheat germination and growth and comparison with hydro-priming. Halo-priming treatments were consisted different combinations of KNO3, KH2PO4 and nitrogen + phosphorous. The result showed that seed priming had significant effect on all measured traits. Both halo- and hydro-priming increased germination percentage, seedling and radicle length, plant height and leaf area. Also germination percentage was the highest under hydropriming; and seedling and early growth were the highest under halo-priming treatments. Increasing in KNO3 and KH2PO4 and decreasing in N+P were associated to more positive effect; so the best combination for KNO3, KH2PO4 and N+P were 100 mM, 500 mM, 50 mM +10 mM, respectively. These halo-priming combinations should be evaluated in further research.
