Abstract

The composition of the essential oil obtained from the dried flowering aerial parts of Mentha aquatica L. (Labiatae) was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Twenty-nine components have been identified in the essential oil of M. aquatica. The major constituents of the essential oil were 1,8-cineole (27.2%), menthofuran (23.2%), β-caryophyllene (12.8%) and limonene (5.2%).
