Abstract

The salicylaldehyde was used as monomer to modify chitosan. The resin material is characterized by means of IR. In ethanol solvent, Schiff base reaction between chitosan and salicylaldehyde was carried out, the salicylicaldehyde grafted chitosan (S-CTS) was generated. The effects of the reaction temperature, the reaction time, the reactant ratio, the system pH and the stirring rate on the graft reaction rate are studied in detail. The rersults show that the best reaction conditions are as follows: the temperature is 60°C, the reaction time is 8h, the ratio of chitosan and salicylaldehyde is 1:4, the pH is 5 and the stirring rate is 440r/min, the grafting rate can achieve 37.5%.
