Abstract

It must be charged: The redox potential difference between pheophytin (PheoD1) and primary plastoquinone in the electron transfer in photosystem II from accessory chlorophyll on the D1 branch (ChlD1) is consistent with the free-energy difference estimated from kinetic studies only when computed for the cationic state . YD=symmetry related redox-inactive tyrosine, YZ=redox-active tyrosine.
