Developmental phonological disorders and normal speech development: a review and illustration

Abstract

This review discusses the characteristics of phonological development from the preverbal stage of vocalizations through to the mastery of adult-like pronunciation patterns. Developmental phonological dis orders are then considered in the context of normal phonological development. Two children with unusual pronunciation patterns illus trate the characteristics of developmental phonological disorders.
