Abstract
Lean production is a scientific management method that has been proven in practice. By nature, lean production is a kind of philosophy, and spirit. The core of it includes waste elimination, continuous improvement, and the pursuit of excellence. Therefore, the range of the application of lean production should not just be limited to the manufacturing process, and it should extend to design process so as to eliminate waste from the source. This is the thought of lean design. This paper elaborated the concept of lean design, analyzed the application fields of lean design, and indicated that it is the only way to establish lean enterprise that make comprehensive lean design for enterprise.
