Abstract

Abstract Two organogermanium compounds, 2,4,6‐(t‐Bu)3C6H2GeCl3 (1) and 2,4,6‐(t‐Bu)3C6H2GeH3 (2), were prepared, and the structures were determined by X‐ray crystallography. Compound 1 exhibits unusual structural parameters due to the strong repulsion of the bulky t‐butyl substituents and GeCl3 moiety; the benzene ring assumes a boat conformation, and the GeCl3 group as well as the o‐t‐butyl groups stay significantly away from the benzene ring. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
