Abstract
The paper presents the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a clamped square flexible plate based on the Finite Difference (FD) and Finite Element (FE) methods. Finite Difference Method is implemented using MATLAB software whereas the Finite Element Method is implemented using ABAQUS software and the results are compared with the available analytical results. It is found that the improved Finite Difference program's results are so close to analytical results when compared to Finite elements method results.
