Abstract
A novel TM-mode transmission waveguide polarizer based on a three-dimensional ARROW-B waveguide was proposed and demonstrated. This polarizer can achieve a high extinction ratio over 30 dB with small insertion loss less than 0.1 dB and short device length less than a thousand wavelengths. The extinction ratio of 14.8 dB with the insertion loss of 1.1 dB was experimentally obtained with the device length of 400 μm at the wavelength of 0.633 μm. This structure can easily be extended to polarization splitters.
