Abstract

We present a new way of finding the initial weights for an adaptive multistage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) scheme proposed recently. The proposed initialization approach is on the basis of minimizing the mean residual interference power at each stage of cancellation and involves a calculation of the Q-function. To reduce its computational complexity, a table look-up approach is presented to simplify the design. Computer simulations show that the proposed initialization method makes the adaptive multistage PIC scheme converge much faster than the original scheme with fixed initialization, which in turn reduces the number of iterations required per stage.
