Towards a new era of knowledge creation: a brief discussion of the epistemology for knowledge creation

In this paper, three facets of knowledge creations are discussed: levels of knowledge creation (global, community and individual levels); broad academic disciplines of knowledge creation (sciences, humanities and design) with possible models of knowledge creation (knowledge spiral, expansive learning, and knowledge building community). In bringing these concepts together, we attempt to make certain connections that may assist educators in scaffolding knowledge creation across different stages of learners’ learning process from the perspective of epistemology.
