Abstract
This paper presents a Switch-Linear Hybrid (SLH) power amplifier whose idea is originated from conventional class B linear power amplifier instead of the most commonly used switching power amplifier. The linear power unit of the SLH power amplifier is fed by dynamic tracking power supplies to boost the efficiency of the linear power unit without scarifying any virtues of linear power amplifier. Therefore, by combining the linear power amplifier with the switching power amplifier, the SLH power amplifier has synthetic performance of high fidelity, high efficiency and excellent dynamic characteristics. Analysis and experimental results verify the validity of the SLH power amplifier.
