Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide information on the nest architecture and host plants of Samba (Prosamba) spinosa Eardley, an endemic species of the South African winter rainfall area. Samba is an Afrotropical genus comprising ten species of solitary bees occurring in South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Tanzania with its centre of species diversity in the winter rainfall area of western South Africa (Michez et al., in press).
