Abstract
The ability of human growth hormone (hGH) to accelerate the growth of juvenile carp, Catla catla was investigated, and the potentiality of bath immersion as a method of exogenous administration of growth hormone was assessed. Administration of hGH by immersion at a dosage of 12 |ig/l for 4 hours of every 5 days resulted in significant increase in growth rate during the 0 - 2 weeks treatment periods and a significant decrease in growth rate during 2 - 4 weeks post-treatment period. This suggests that 12 ^g/1 of hGH is capable of eliciting a maximum effect on weight as well as on length in juvenile carp, Catla catla
