Abstract

ARTHRODESIS is the irreversible osseous fusion of a joint undertaken as a salvage procedure to restore acceptable limb function. The aims of this article are to review the principles of arthrodesis, identify potential complications and assist the surgeon to advise on appropriate arthrodesis.
