Abstract

Abstract A new electron gun for a super wide deflection angle (SWDA) cathode ray tube (CRT) has been developed. For a SWDA the dynamic focus voltage is usually very high, lowering the dynamic focus voltage is one of the key factors to realize wide angle CRTs. We designed a new quadrupole lens for the electron gun. As a result, we were able to achieve a reasonable focus quality with low dynamic voltage that is comparable to the conventional CRTs. The new electron gun enabled SWDA CRTs possible.
