Abstract
The magnitude and waveform of harmonic winding voltage in synchronous generator can be calculated by computing electromagnetic field. But the more important problem is how to optimize the design of a generator, so that the harmonic voltage can meet the need of excitation system well. A design method for 3rdharmonic excitation system based on computation of electromagnetic field is discussed in this paper. The 3rdharmonic field performance can be adjusted easily by using this method, no matter the generator is no-load or on load. This method was proved be of effective and exact by practice.
