Abstract

A simple non-linear proportional-derivative (PD) controller is proposed to improve the settling time in a servomechanism. Damping depends on the position error; for large errors, damping is small and increases for smaller errors. It is experimentally shown that the proposed algorithm improves the settling time with respect to a linear PD controller.
