Abstract

Interference due to hydrometeor scatter between radio links at frequencies beyond 10 GHz is being extensively studied in view of the widespread use of these bands for terrestrial and space communication links. The author presents a study aimed at determining the statistical properties of interference, using real antenna patterns and a quasi-physical rain cell model. The procedures developed in this work can be used to perform a comparison with the results obtained using pencil beam antennas. The model was used to examine five simple cases of interfering links, both terrestrial and space.>
