Combined activity of ketoconazole and sulphamethoxazole against Candida albicans

Abstract

Weak fungistatic concentrations of ketoconazole were tested in combination with a subinhibitory level of sulphamethoxazole against five strains of Candida albicans in vitro. In each case combined drug activity markedly surpassed that seen with ketoconazole alone. It was concluded that this drug pair can act synergistically against Can. albicans.
