Abstract

Relaxation techniques have been suggested as an effective intervention in the control of pain, nausea, and stress. This article describes one technique, relaxation with guided imagery. Preparation of the learner, assessment prior to learning relaxation, and observations which aid in evaluation are discussed as well as the technique itself.
