Abstract
Next spring, the first issue of a new electronic supplement to the Journal of Chemical Education will appear. The journal is published by the American Chemical Society's Division of Chemical Education. The supplement, actually a floppy disk, will contain computer programs useful to chemistry teachers. It will be edited by Tamar Y. Suss-kind, associate professor of chemistry at Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills, Mich. She urges chemistry teachers to contribute programs. The venture is being funded by a $40,000 grant to Project Seraphim from the Dreyfus Foundation. Project Seraphim is a National Science Foundation program, based at Eastern Michigan University, to promote the use of microcomputers for chemical education (C&EN, July 4, 1983, page 30). According to Susskind, chemistry teachers have long recognized the potential of the computer in classroom and lab instruction.
